Chancellor, YSU President Tressel to Host GIVE back. GO forward. Reception Honoring Volunteers, Including First Tuition Voucher Recipient

Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) Chancellor John Carey; Youngstown State University President Jim Tressel; Eastern Gateway Community College Vice Chair for the Board of Trustees Sr. Patricia McNicholas; United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley Director for Education and Initiatives Kathy Mock; ODHE staff; officials from Youngstown State University, Eastern Gateway Community College, United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley; Inspiring Minds; Youngstown City Schools; Struthers City Schools; Boardman Local Schools; students; and business and industry partners.

Chancellor Carey will visit the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor for a reception for GIVE back. GO forward volunteers and participating volunteer organizations. GIVE back. GO forward. is a pilot program for members of the Mahoning Valley age 60 and older who volunteer 100 hours in return for an undergraduate three-credit-hour tuition voucher at Youngstown State University or Eastern Gateway Community College. The voucher can be used by the volunteer or gifted to a current or future student. The Chancellor, with President Tressel and Kathy Mock, will provide an overview of the pilot program and recognize the first volunteer to earn a credit tuition voucher.
