OVV Nursing Gathering to Discuss Military Credit (Sept. 21st, 2017)

Attendees: Public Instititions of higher education with programs in the Nursing field are encouraged to send their academic dean or a staff/faculty member who is directly involved at the undergraduate pre-licensure curriculum level within their nursing program.

Purpose: To discuss the military's medical training that takes place at the Medical Education & Training Campus (METC).  The specific focus is the basic medical training (Army Medics, Air Force Medical Technicians, & Navy Corpsmen) and how their training can be aligned to course requirements of Ohio's public institutions' nursing programs.  We will also focus on pathway options to help these individuals attain their highest desired level of degree/credential attainment.  The pathways idea is a direct result from the orignial May 19th meeting.

OVV Train the Trainer Program Overview (November 14, 2016)

Hosted by the Ohio Transfer Council as a free professional development event on Monday, November 14 to learn about Ohio's available resources regarding the "Train the Trainer" program for the evaluation of military credit. 

The Ohio Department of Higher Education's Jared Shank will be leading the discussion.

 

OVV Train the Trainer Program (September & October 2015)

Attendees: Public institutions of higher education are encouraged to send teams of two to three faculty or staff who are in a position to coach and equip other faculty and staff on their campuses with information and tools related to awarding college credit for military training, experience, and coursework. These individuals will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating campus training programs related to military credit.

Purpose: To  “ensure that appropriate equivalent credit is awarded for military training, experience, and coursework…” (ORC 3333.164C) by providing an opportunity to equip institutional representatives with the training and tools necessary to familiarize their faculty and staff members on their campuses pertaining to awarding of college credit for military training, experience, and coursework.

OVV Regional Workshops (April-May 2015)

Pre-Workshop Homework: Is available here!  We ask that each attendee review the pre-workshop homework and become familiar with all of the resources outlined in advance of the regional workshops.

Attendees: Public institutions of higher education are encouraged to send teams of five comprised of faculty and staff who make course equivalency decisions for military training, experience, and coursework.  This may include those working in the registrar, transfer office, and admissions. Institutions are encouraged to attend the regional workshop closest to them, but may send a team to a workshop outside of their region if it’s more convenient.

Purpose: To provide the information and tools necessary for public institutions of higher education to “ensure that appropriate equivalent credit is awarded for military training, experience, and coursework…” (ORC 3333.164C) 

Time: Registration/Check-In begins at 9:30 a.m. Workshops run from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
