Various stops in the Westerville/Delaware County region to discuss workforce development, the Regionally Aligned Priorities in Delivering Skills (RAPIDS) program, College Credit Plus, Aspire education, student veterans, and textbook affordability, in conjunction with Governor John R. Kasich’s State of the State address.


Monday, March 5, 2018

10-11 a.m. – Workforce event to highlight the RAPIDS program at Columbus State Community College’s Delaware Campus. Columbus State and Marion Technical College are among the partners receiving a RAPIDS grant to purchase equipment to train students for in-demand jobs in the region. A discussion of the RAPIDS program will be followed by a tour of the mobile unit purchased with RAPIDS funding, where students will demonstrate skills learned.

1-2 p.m. – College Credit Plus roundtable discussion at Big Walnut High School with BWHS students and K-12 and higher ed faculty, staff, and administrators.

2:30-3:30 p.m. – Visit to the Aspire class held at the Delaware County District Library’s Orange Township branch. Chancellor Carey, ODHE staff, and Aspire program managers will talk with students and the local site director about the Aspire program and its impact.

Tuesday, March 6, 2018

9 a.m. – Chancellor Carey to provide opening remarks at The Ohio Cyber Range Event & Capture the Flag Challenge at Westerville North High School.

10-11:30 a.m. – ODHE and OhioLINK host a panel discussion about textbook affordability and open education resources at Otterbein University. Panelists from North Central State College, Ohio State, Ohio University, University of Cincinnati, Franklin University, Miami University, and University of Wisconsin-Stout will participate.

1-3:00 p.m. – Chancellor Carey participates in the Governor’s Executive Workforce Board meeting at The Electrical Trades Center in Grandview.
