Thursday, September 20, 2012 - 1:00pm

Ohio Board of Regents Boardroom
30 E. Broad Street, 36th Floor
Columbus, OH 43215

Who: Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro, Controlling Board President and Policy Advisor for the State of Ohio Office of Budget and Management Randy Cole, and Paul Kobulnicky, Youngstown State University

What: The Chancellor of the Board of Regents has established a 40-member efficiency advisory committee that will work to craft efficiency plans for campuses, identify shared services opportunities and share best practices. The committee will also attempt to reduce the cost of textbooks and other education resource materials.  The committee shall meet at the call of the Chancellor or the Chancellor’s designee, but at least quarterly.  Each state institution of higher education shall designate an employee to serve as its efficiency officer responsible for the evaluation and improvement of operational efficiencies on campus.  Each efficiency officer shall serve on the efficiency advisory committee. The meeting represents the third time in recent history that Ohio’s colleges and universities have collaborated to make optimal use of state resources. Earlier this year, officials worked together on a comprehensive capital bill, and last week, Gov. John Kasich tasked colleges and universities with deciding how state funding for higher education will be leveraged in the next budget.
