Working with business. Creating business.
Ohio universities partner with 2,200 companies in Ohio and around the world.
In the last year, Ohio’s institutions of higher education continued to build robust relationships with industry, partnering with 937 companies in Ohio alone. Located throughout the six Third Frontier regions and representing a variety of industry sectors, these companies contribute to every facet of the state’s economy. Partnerships can take a variety of forms. Businesses sponsor university research, undertake shared research opportunities, license technology from a university, or engage in a combination of all three. Many companies partner with more than one university, further strengthening the ties between the state’s institutions of higher education and industry.
In addition to collaborating with businesses in Ohio, the state’s higher education institutions partner with approximately 1,300 companies outside of Ohio, both in the United States and abroad.
On an ongoing basis, the Ohio Board of Regents works with state, local, and other economic development entities to attract, retain, and expand projects in Ohio. Recent examples of successful projects include NetJets, GE Aviation, Turning Point Solar, Bridgestone Firestone, CODA Automotive, Chase, and Timken.
