COLUMBUS, OH, Oct. 7, 2013 – The Ohio Board of Regents welcomed Cheryl Hay as its new Deputy Chancellor, Higher Education Workforce Alignment today, and also announced Jeff Robinson as the agency’s communications director.
Hay comes to the Board of Regents on loan through 2014 from Columbus State Community College, where she has served as the senior executive director of the college’s Center for Workforce Development since 2006. While at Columbus State, Hay has led several units, including industry strategy at the local and state level; newly skilled worker pipelines; continuing education programs for professionals; economic development strategies; and the integration of workforce strategies into education delivery.
“Cheryl brings a wealth of workforce development experience to her role here,” said Chancellor John Carey. “I look forward to working with her as we continue to align higher education in Ohio with the workforce needs of Ohio’s businesses, and I appreciate the cooperation received from Columbus State.”
Before joining Columbus State, Hay served as senior vice president of Children’s Hunger Alliance and vice president of workforce development for the Columbus Chamber. While at the Chamber, Hay initiated long-term workforce development efforts to ensure a quality workforce for the Chamber’s 3,500 local business members.
Robinson came to the Board of Regents in July 2012 as its deputy director of communications. He was named acting director in January. Prior to joining the Board of Regents, Robinson spent four years as the public information officer for the City of Powell and 15 years working in local and state media.
