The primary function of the Research Officers' Council is to work in close consultation with the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) in the development and administration of the various research funding programs which have been authorized or are being considered by the Ohio General Assembly. All requests for research funding from ODHE must be made through the designated research officer of a given university.
The Council meets periodically (on a schedule as determined by the Council) to discuss the ODHE research programs as well as other topics of importance and interest to the research community. The current meeting schedule of the Council may be found on the Events & Meeting Notices page.
The Research Officers' Council of Ohio is composed of the individuals who serve as the primary research contact at the research universities in the state of Ohio. A research officer is the designated institutional liaison (usually the Vice President for Research) for a given university. The Council currently includes representatives of Ohio's 13 public universities, two freestanding (public) colleges of medicine, and two private research universities, Case Western Reserve University and University of Dayton.
