Build a Website and Win Recognition

COLUMBUS, OH, Dec. 21, 2011 – The University System of Ohio is hosting a website building contest for the url: www.ChooseOhioFirst.org.  Registration begins on January 2, 2012 and ends on February 5, 2012.

Contestants are asked to design and build a website that will recruit talented Ohio students into STEMM fields. The website should encourage students to pursue a degree as part of the Choose Ohio First scholarship program.

Central State University Receives Recognition

COLUMBUS, OH, Nov. 7, 2011 Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro, joined by Central State University President John W. Garland, today named the Central State University’s Center of Excellence in Fine and Performing Arts an Ohio Center of Excellence in Cultural and Societal Transformation. The newly designated Center of Excellence will serve as a cultural hub for promoting musical and artistic excellence in area schools and communities as well as promoting local economic development.

Cleveland State University’s Center for the NextGen_Economy Named a Center of Excellence

COLUMBUS, OH, Oct. 26, 2011 Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro, joined by Cleveland State University president Ronald M. Berkman, today named Cleveland State’s Center for the NextGen_Economy an Ohio Center of Excellence in Cultural and Societal Transformation. The new Center of Excellence will unite the University’s strengths in economic development, business development, and entrepreneurship to serve as a catalyst for the state’s economic transformation.

Wright State and Mound Laser & Photonics Center Receive Funding to Purchase High Tech Laser for Micro Manufacturing

COLUMBUS, OH, Oct. 25, 2011 Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro today announced Wright State University and Mound Laser & Photonics Center, Inc. (MLPC) are awarded a Non-Credit Job Training Capital Improvement Facilities Fund grant of $232,918 to purchase a significant piece of high tech machinery called a femtosecond pulsed laser for advanced manufacturing.

University of Cincinnati Named Center for Excellence

COLUMBUS, OH, Oct. 20, 2011 Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro, joined by University of Cincinnati President Gregory H. Williams, today named the University of Cincinnati’s University of Cincinnati’s Center for Design and Innovation as an Ohio Center of Excellence in Cultural and Societal Transformation. The new Center of Excellence incorporates the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), the College of Medicine and the College of Engineering.

Wright State Recognized as Ohio Center of Excellence

Forever Buckeyes Program Welcomes Ohioans Home

COLUMBUS, OH, Oct. 17, 2011 – Once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye. At least that is the approach the Ohio Board of Regents and the State of Ohio are taking when it comes to attending college in Ohio.

“If our economy is to grow, we must do everything we can to attract and retain students of all ages to Ohio,” Ohio Chancellor Jim Petro said. “The Forever Buckeyes program provides an incentive to attract these students back to Ohio to enroll in a wide range of educational opportunities.”
