Wright State and Mound Laser & Photonics Center Receive Funding to Purchase High Tech Laser for Micro Manufacturing

COLUMBUS, OH, Oct. 25, 2011 Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro today announced Wright State University and Mound Laser & Photonics Center, Inc. (MLPC) are awarded a Non-Credit Job Training Capital Improvement Facilities Fund grant of $232,918 to purchase a significant piece of high tech machinery called a femtosecond pulsed laser for advanced manufacturing.

COLUMBUS, OH, Oct. 20, 2011 Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro, joined by University of Cincinnati President Gregory H. Williams, today named the University of Cincinnati’s University of Cincinnati’s Center for Design and Innovation as an Ohio Center of Excellence in Cultural and Societal Transformation. The new Center of Excellence incorporates the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), the College of Medicine and the College of Engineering.

Forever Buckeyes Program Welcomes Ohioans Home

Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro Signs Virtualization Licensing Agreement

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 07, 2011 Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro, in conjunction with The Ohio State University, today announced signing an aggregate purchasing agreement with VMware, Inc. projected to generate $25.4 million in direct savings and $155.5 million in indirect savings over the next two years.  The agreement serves all Ohio four-year and two-year campuses, K-12 schools, and state and local governments, as well as related health care communities.

3-Year Degrees Save Students Money

COLUMBUS – OH, October 3, 2011 – Ohio is moving forward with an initiative that will save Ohio students money. The 3-Year Degree plan, required in the 2012-13 state budget, is designed to ease the financial burden on students while still providing them with a quality education. The budget provision calls for state universities to transition ten percent of their programs to three-year degrees in 2012 with 60 percent of programs available in three years by 2014.
