Overview Faculty Writing Panel Meetings Documents Resources

Overview

Overviewpic_0.jpgThe Ohio Articulation and Transfer Network (OATN) Oversight Board requested an investigation into the potential for statewide foreign language articulation agreements.  The OATN subsequently contracted with two faculty lead experts to conduct research on Beginning I, Beginning II, Intermediate I, and Intermediate II foreign language course content across Ohio; recent pedagogical research on language proficiency; and national trends.  Based upon the findings, the faculty lead experts completed a first draft of learning outcomes to share with the Faculty Writing Panel.

Members of the Faculty Writing Panel attended an in-person meeting to make modifications to the draft learning outcomes developed by the faculty lead experts.  Once the panel reached a consensus on the content of the learning outcomes, the documents were shared with additional foreign language faculty during the Ohio Foreign Language Summit, which took place on November 7, 2013 at Columbus State Community College.  The summit was sponsored by the Ohio Foreign Language Association, the Center for Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at The Ohio State University, The Modern Languages Department of Columbus State Community College, and the Ohio Articulation and Transfer Network.  All 36 public institutions of higher education in Ohio were invited to nominate representatives to attend the summit.
